In support of the Edward O. Lund Foundation, providing scholarships to deserving Arts students at Fresno State and promoting community events celebrating the arts and cycling. The Hammer Road Rally is a serious ride celebrating the love of adventure on two wheels.
This ride is perfect for your adventure road bike with 25c or larger tires. If you're opting for the gravel options, most road cyclists will be comfortable on 28c tires, and are recommended. But if you're not comfortable with gravel descents on a road bike, you might even want to throw on some tires with a minimal amount of tread. To each his or her own. Please inquire if this doesn't answer it for you!

The road route is designed to bring you around some beautiful, relatively lightly traveled roads while keeping the elevation and length manageable. There's an optional gravel segment if you want to add another 7 miles and 1,000' to your ride.
Our "Road Rally" format introduces the perfect mix of competition and camaraderie. We score specific "segments" through a single day. That means you can ride for hours but only race for short periods of time where it's fun and challenging. The best cumulative times across all segments for the day are deemed the winners. Individual and combined segments are awarded.
There will be awards given to the top 3 in varying age and gender categories. As many as 18 awards will be given out for cumulative overall times. Your times on each segment will be added together and ranked amongst your age/gender category.
Each podium place will receive a custom Hammer Road Rally medal and additional prizes for their efforts.
This is a RULES OF THE ROAD event. You are required to obey all traffic laws and follow direction from all traffic enforcement staff.
Timed segments will require that you make certain time cuts in order for your times to be recorded and valid in the final results.
Getting access to on-course support infrastructure such as aid stations and marshals requires that you maintain at least an 11mph average speed. At some point we have to pull in the resources, and we estimate that all riders participating in the longest route should be able to achieve this. Shorter routes can be completed at slower speeds and still have support.
One of the best parts about the ride is that you can cover a huge distances, tackle big Sierra climbs and spend lots of hours in the saddle with the support you need to do it all with relative ease. We provide staffed and stocked aid stations with great food, on-course and roving support and marshaling and periodic traffic control to make an epic day on the bike fun and memorable.
